Dear Parents,

It is our hope that the Keystone experience is as pleasurable for you and your child as possible.  In order to help create a safe and enjoyable environment, we ask that you read the following rules and procedures and make sure that your child is aware of them

Transportation to the Westview (Keystone) Center:

As we make the transition from the various elementary schools to the Keystone Program at the Westview Center, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure that the children are safe, happy and accounted for.

If your child is coming from Grantsdale School

At the end of the school day, your child will get onto bus Tarzan.  This bus will travel directly to the Keystone Center.  Your child will enter into the Keystone Center where they will be met by Keystone staff members.

If your child is coming from Daly School

At the first bell, your child will go to the back of the playground and load on bus Mickey or Goofy.  They will travel by bus to the Keystone Center where they will get off and enter into the center where they will be met by Keystone staff members.

If your child is coming from Washington School

Keystone staff members will pick your child up from his/her class at the end of the day.  The staff members will either walk the children to the Keystone Center or ride the Tarzan bus with them, depending upon the weather and conditions.  Your child will be escorted to the Keystone Center by staff members. Because we will be picking up your child from the classroom, we will assume that your child is attending every day that he/she is registered for unless we receive notification from a parent or guardian stating otherwise.

Pick-Up Procedure:

Pick-up is at 5:30.  The Keystone Center is located at the corner of 9th St. and Main St.  You need to come to the northeast entrance and COME IN to the Keystone Center to check your child out of the program.  This is a safety precaution so that we are sure everyone is going home with a parent or an approved adult.  We must receive written confirmation from you if an adult other than yourself will be picking your child up or if they will be walking home! We realize that things come up and you may occasionally run late.  Please call us so that we can ensure proper supervision of your child.  We reserve the right to charge childcare fees for families that are habitually or excessively late.  If you have requested bus transportation home, we will be contacting you personally to make those arrangements.

Early Pick-Up:

We try to take advantage of the weather and location as much as possible by taking small field trips around the community.  If you know that you will be picking your child up before 5:00, please call us so that we can make sure that your child is at the Center waiting for you.

Clothing:

Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for all weather.  A lot of our classes require being outdoors including many field trips.  If your child is not dressed appropriately, they will be unable to accompany us on these trips.  This includes having a warm coat, hat, and warm footwear.  (If you need assistance obtaining any of these items, please let us know as we have access to a variety of clothing items.)  If we feel that your child will not be warm enough, we will make arrangements for them to attend a different class, but they will remain at the school.

Fees:

Your child will have access to wonderful classes for $4 per day.  If you qualify for reduced lunches it is only $2 and if you qualify for free lunches it is free.  You will be billed at the end of each six-week session by the school district for the days your child actually attends.  We need to receive payment at the District Office, located at 217 Daly Ave. within 2 weeks.   PLEASE, if payment is ever an issue for you, contact us immediately so that arrangements can be made.

Communication with Program Staff:

Our first and foremost concern is your child’s safety and happiness.  If there is anything we can do to better assure these are met, please let us know immediately.  We always welcome you to visit or volunteer in the Keystone Program.

Behavior Expectations and Consequences:

Students are expected to follow all rules and expectations of the regular school day.  Consequences and discipline will be in accordance with district policies.  If a student’s behavior is disruptive to the program or dangerous to themselves, staff or other students, parents will be notified immediately, asked to pick their child up and the student will no longer be welcome in the program.  This is to ensure the happiness and well being of all program participants.

If your child has a one on one para assigned to them during the school day, unfortunately we will not be able to have them attend our program.  We do not have the resources or staff to help those children.
